Canawaima resumes ferry service between Suriname and Guyana. After completing specialized checks and additional measurements of the hull thickness of the M.V. Canawaima, the blockage preventing departure has been lifted. This allows passengers from today onwards to once again make the familiar crossing by boat in the border traffic between Suriname and Guyana. No injuries in house fire on Sophialaan. A ground-floor home on Sophialaan was completely destroyed by fire early Friday morning. Fortunately, no one was injured at the property, which was a combination of stone and wood construction. The Suriname Police Corps reported via its website on the same Friday that extensive investigative work is currently underway to determine exactly how the fire started. The new father used the opportunity to speak about his desire to raise the three children in Paramaribo.
