The Peace of 1760 symbolizes the principle of sustainable rest and national unity on the path toward development. Today, we celebrate the Day of the Maroons, an important occasion in our country. The National Party of Suriname would like to congratulate this special day, which commemorates that on October 10, 1760, the peace treaty was signed between the Ndyuka and the colonial administration. This is a unique opportunity to honor our maroon brothers and sisters and remember our shared past while simultaneously looking toward a common future.
